We need more housing, but the right kind of housing. Not standard builds, but low-cost builds in sustainable communities that are totally off the grid. This is the future of housing and the solution to the homeless problem as well.

Looks like the good old days are back. My Dad sarcastically called them the good old days "when a relative had some bad luck and came to live with us."

As landlords, the stories just keep getting worse. A man called saying he had to move today--his son had beaten the crap out of him the night before. A disabled woman wanted her own place as living with her mom was miserable--but with $1200/month disability a $600/month apartment (plus about $100/month utilities) would have been miserable, too.

Whatever we do, we need to find a way to maintain people's dignity.
